Communion at St. David’s
If you are a baptized Christian and seek the Real Presence of Christ in communion, you are welcome to receive at this altar. Extend your hands together palm up to receive the bread. You may pass by the cup or receive from it by either dipping the bread gently in the cup or guiding the cup to your lips. If you are not baptized, or simply prefer not to receive, you may still come to the altar and receive a blessing by coming forward and crossing your arms over your chest.
Children, Communion & Worship
Perhaps the most special activity open to our children and youth is participation in Holy Communion. Since 1971, the Episcopal Church has been on record as believing
that receiving communion is a celebration of our baptisms. We are “admitted” to Holy Communion at our baptisms. As soon as the child expresses interest in receiving, she or he is welcome to receive if the parents express consent.
Infants and toddlers are welcome at St. David’s! As a parent of young children, we want you to know that rather than distracting from our worship, infants and toddlers (and children of all ages) enhance it. Never feel as if you need to rush your child out of the service when they lift their young voices. (Jesus did not seem bothered by the presence or sounds of children!) Coloring books & crayons are located at the north entrance to the Sanctuary, if desired.
However, if you feel your personal worship might be enhanced by their brief absence we do provide a nursery at the 10:30 am service or upon request. We do strongly encourage you to pick them up from the nursery in time to participate in Holy Communion, even if just by being present.
